Hiccups are annoying thing, interrupting the conversation and making people feel unconfortable.
Hiccups can last for minutes, even last for a long time day by day. It can affect all ages, both infants and parents, men and women, young and old.
This hiccup occurs due to closing of the vocal cords because it is triggered by the contraction of diaphragm.
Medically, hiccup means the contractions of diaphragm due to convulsions, causes the vocal cords in the throat close and open very quickly.

- Drinking softdrinks

- Extreme and sudden temperature changes

- Smoking cigarettes
If your hiccup only last for few minutes, it is a common thing that you dont need to think about. But if it last for a long time, it means that you get a heavy hiccups which can indicate a serious problem on your body. So, you should do a medical check up to the doctor.
2. How to remove / get rid of hiccups
If it is too disturbing for you, you may try these ways to remove your hiccups easily and quickly. But, it is not a guarantee, just an effort.
- Hold your breath as long as you strong to increase carbondioxide
- Breath with plastic bags or paper
- Drinking warm water
- Set the breathing
- Sticking your tongue out
- Drink lime juice
- Use eucalyptus oil
- Rub ice cube to your throat
- Eat or chew a spoon of sugar
